Welcome to nightshade lit!
Everyone is welcome to submit prose, poetry, and art.
Our response time concerning submissions ranges from 1-3 weeks.
Email your submissions to [email protected] with subject title [name] - [genre] - [issue number]
Please attach work as PDFs or Word Documents. For art submissions, we'd prefer JPEGs & PDFs, but jpeg especially
Submissions across multiple genres are okay, but please do so in separate emails.

We will immediately reject any exclusionary work, glorification of domestic abuse/violence, and animal abuse.
For the EIC's safety, please include trigger warnings if applicable. It won't be an instant rejection if you don't but we'll be less likely to accept your submission.
Simultaneous submissions encouraged! Please just let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere so we can remove it from our queue and celebrate your acceptance with you.
Upon acceptance, you grant us North American serial and electronic rights. These rights revert back to you after publication.
the EIC's pronouns are they/them and they use the name aera primarily. if you wish to address your email directly to the eic, please adhere to the pronouns and name preferred.

restrictions/word count

for prose or hybrids, we'd like you to limit the word count to 500 words or less.
for cnf or flash fiction, 1k max is amazing !
poetry/prose poetry: around 3 poems is ideal, but we'll take up to 5
art: up to 5 pieces of art

Arushi (Aera) Rege is a queer, Indian-American poet who simultaneously attends junior year in high school in Arizona. In their free time, they can be found reading good books, listening to R&B, and stressing over college. They tweet occasionally @academic (underscore) core and face the perils of instagram @aeranem (underscore) 26.
